159. What is the Lord’s Supper?

ANS: The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the New Testament instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ, a memorial rite in which the church assembles to partake in a worthy manner the unleavened bread and wine which symbolize the broken body and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; a rite which both commemorates and anticipates his return.
