Beliefs

Who we are and what we believe is rooted in the Bible, the foundation upon which the church operates and the basis by which the church is governed.  The following statements reflect the teachings of Scripture and summarize the fuller Statement of Faith found in our Church Handbook.

Bible

We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God, written by men divinely inspired and that it contains a perfect rule of faith and practice for a Christian life and a New Testament Church (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; Psalm 119:89; 1 Peter 1:25).

God

We believe in the triune GOD-head: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; that these distinct persons are one; that this God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient; that He is completely sovereign and supreme, perfectly able and just to hold man responsible for sin and unbelief (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Chronicles 29:11; Psalm 115:3; Isaiah 44:8 and 48:16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; 14:9; Acts 5:1-5; Ephesians 1:4-11; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:3).

Human Depravity

We believe that man fell from his holy state by voluntary transgression and is now totally depraved, without holiness or an inclination thereto; that he is spiritually dead in trespasses and in sins (Isaiah 1:5-6;Jeremiah 10:23; 17:9; Romans 3:9-18, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3, 5).

Gospel

We believe the gospel—the good news that God forgives, regenerates, and saves all who come to Him through faith in the biblical gospel. This is possible because, though all humans are guilty, Jesus Christ died on the cross in our place for our sins absorbing God’s wrath on our behalf. In so doing God is able to forgive the spiritual crimes of people without violating the demands of justice. God now offers an invitation to every sinner to believe in the gospel for reconciliation with God. We believe Jesus will ultimately renew the entire cosmos in the new heaven and earth, and that all who believe the gospel will rule and reign with Him in His kingdom (Romans 3:23, Acts 3:19, Acts 20:21, Ephesians 2:1-3, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 John 2:2, John 3:16, Matthew 11:28, Revelation 22:17).

Church

We believe that a local church is a living and spiritual body of people, composed of baptized believers, covenanted together to carry out the Laws of Christ, who is the Head; that its sole purpose is to preach the gospel to all nations, baptize those who are saved and then teach them to observe all things Christ commanded (Matthew 18:17, 22; 28:18-20; Mark 3:14; Luke 6:12-13; 16:13-18; Acts 1:21-22).

Second Coming

We believe the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be a personal, visible return to earth (Matthew 16:27; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:11-15).

Eternity

We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell.  All those who place their faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation proclaimed in the gospel will spend eternity separated from God and His people in hell (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 5:3, 5:22, 18:9 and 25:31-34; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 12:5; John 3:18; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Peter 1:4; Revelation 14:10-11 and 20:11-15).
